INTRODUCTION TO THE ANALYSIS OF EEG DATA FOR COGNITIVE NEUROSCIENCE EXPERIMENTS

Date: Friday, September 28
Hour: 10-12 am

The workshop will provide a first approach to elementary concepts to analyze EEG data in the context of a basic or applied research in the area of cognitive neuroscience. Likewise, the EEGLAB tool will be presented as an alternative to EEG signal analysis, and the procedures required to condition the acquired signal will be explored: segmentation, filtering, among others. In addition, initial notions of the procedure to calculate event-related potentials (PRE) and event-related desynchronization (ERD-ERSP) will be provided.

INTRODUCTION TO THE FORMATION OF ECOGRAPHIC IMAGES

Date: Friday, September 28
Hour: 10-12 am

This is a theoretical-practical workshop where attendees can learn the basics of ultrasound imaging, which are widely used in medical applications ranging from obstetric-gynecological examinations to the diagnosis of different types of cancer. The theoretical description includes topics such as:

(1) Acoustic wave equation

(2) Transducer Radiation and Array Theory

(3) Basics of beam focusing

(4) Advanced beam focusing techniques (adaptive beamforming, plane wave imaging).

The practical component consists in the acquisition of data using a research ultrasound system that allows direct access to the signals measured by the ultrasonic transducer. The assistants will use these data to build ultrasound using codes in Matlab language, which will allow to directly observe the effect of the different stages of the formation of the images and thus reinforce the concepts studied.
