From the Wright brothers being inspired by birds to build us our first aeroplanes to the Kingfisher's beak inspiring the bullet trains, the knowledge of the Biological world has inspired us into new innovations. Thus we bring to you an extremely fun Workshop on Bio-Inspired Design!

 

Mr. P.K.Suresh is a Professor Higher Academic Grade (PHAG) in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, School of Biosciences and Technology who will be conducting the workshop. He has approximately 22.8 years of teaching, research and administrative experience (post-Ph.D.). He received his second masters and Ph.D. in the Department of Environmental Studies, Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville (SIUE), Illinois, USA and the Department of Environmental Health, College of Medicine, University of Cincinnati, Ohio, USA respectively. He was a Postdoctoral fellow at the Departments of Pharmacology & Toxicology, College of Pharmacy, University of Texas at Austin, TX, USA as well as Rutgers University (Environmental & Occupational Health Sciences Institute), Piscataway, USA respectively. His work experience has been in the academic sector heading Biotechnology as well as Industrial Biotechnology departments both in the Arts and Science as well as in the Engineering streams.

Prajit Datta is currently working as an AI Research Scientist at AFRY (One of the Scandinavian Consulting Giants), based out of Sweden.
He also leads the AI Global Competence Group at AFRY. He is in the council of Forbes Tech for the year 2020 and also a Global Shaper (World Economic Forum). A TEDx Speaker and author of 2 books, he is a regular international public speaker on technology and has delivered talks across major continents (Asia, Europe, and the US).

He likes to mentor and teach aspirants to leverage their skillsets and make them ready to contribute to the Data Science Community. His vision is to develop intelligent systems using principles of artificial intelligence which will change the way we look at the world or in short to make 'Person Of Interest'.
In his free time, he likes to read books, bike, and practice yoga.

Amaresh Chakrabarti is a Senior Professor and current Chairman for Centre for Product Design & Manufacturing, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. He has BE (Topper in Mech Engg, IIEST Shibpur), ME (topper in Mech Design, IISc) and PhD (Engg Design, Univ of Cambridge UK). He led for 10 years the Design Synthesis group at EPSRC CoE Engg Design Centre at Univ of Cambridge. His interests are in synthesis, creativity, sustainability and informatics in products, biomedical devices and manufacturing systems. He published 17 books, over 300 peer-reviewed articles, and has 11 patents granted/pending. He co-authored DRM, a methodology used widely as framework for design research. He has been Associate Editor, AI EDAM & Design Science Journal (Cambridge University Press), Area Editor, Research in Engg Design, Regional Editor, J Re-manufacturing (Springer), and Advisory Editor for 8 Journals incl. Clean Tech & Env. Policy, Materals Circular Economy (Springer), and J of Engg D and Int J Design Creativity & Innovation (T&F). He was on Advisory Board and Board of Management, Design Society; member, CII National Committee on Design India; Jury, India Design Mark; invitee, CII Smart Manufacturing Council India. He founded IDeASLab – India's first Design Observatory. Dr Rupam Sharma, is Principal Scientist in Central Institute of Fisheries Education under Indian Council of Agricultural Research in Mumbai. He has been working on Application of nanoparticles for delivery of different biomolecules and also on nanotoxicity using zebrafish as a vertebrate model. He has published more than 50 research papers in various journals of international repute. Trained in University of Stirling, Scotland, he is involved in teaching post-graduate students, research and extension for more than 20 years.

Damini Agarwal is the Director of Product Development at Infinite Biomedical Technologies LLC, a medical device company based out of Baltimore that develops electronics and control systems for upper limb myoelectric prosthesis systems. An alumna of VIT University, she did her B.Tech with a Major in Biomedical Engineering and a Minor in Computer Science, and received the Chancellor's Gold Medal for the Best Outgoing Student of 2015. She graduated with a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and now leads diverse aspects of medical device development at IBT. She currently oversees the development, manufacturing and regulatory approvals of commercially available FDA Class 1 and Class 2 devices which are a combination of cutting edge technologies in flexible electronics, hardware and advanced machine learning algorithm design. She also manages the translation of other control systems from research to product development and supports the clinical team in user fittings and training. Damini finds that working with amputees and developing next generation technology for upper limb prosthetics is a very rewarding use of her technical capabilities and she enjoys it very much.

His specialization is application of single molecule fluorescence spectroscopy and microscopy in Life science studies. After completing his doctoral thesis from University of Strasbourg, France, he has served as scientist and academician in Czech Republic and Switzerland with dedication to develop new bioanalytical tool. Formerly, he has been Scientist at the Academy of Sciences of Czech Republic and trainer for Microscopy Imaging Platform at the University Hospital of Basel.

featured in several national news papers.

degree in “Some Aspects of Biomedical Signal Monitoring and Control” from Delhi University, in 2018. Currently, she is working as an Assistant professor in
Department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering at Netaji SubhasUniversity of Technology, New Delhi . She has published many papers in International journals and conferences. She has guided more than 85 B.Tech and M.Tech students. Currently three Ph.D. scholar working under her guidance She has received Gowri Memorial Award-2019 by IETE for her paper titled, “Levenberg–Marquardt-based non-invasive blood glucose measurement system” Jyoti Yadav, Asha Rani, Vijander Singh and Bhaskar Mohan Murari published in IETE Journal of Research Vol 64 No 1, Jan-Feb 2018. .
