About the workshop

The workshop will be on “Light Field Processing using Low-Complexity Signal Processing Algorithms and Deep Learning”, carried out in collaboration with the IEEE Signal Processing Society Student Chapter at the University of Moratuwa, which will be focusing particularly on depth-filtering, refocusing and denoising. The workshop will be conducted by Dr. Chamira Edussooriya: B.Sc.Eng. (Moratuwa), M.A.Sc., Ph.D. (UVic), MIEEE, a lecturer at the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering at the University of Moratuwa with multiple papers published on official IEEE conferences and journals. The workshop will focus on developing multi-dimensional linear filters which constitute a class of signal processing algorithms with practical applications as lower computational complexity algorithms for four-dimensional light field processing which can be used in-depth filtering, post-capture refocusing and depth estimation. The workshop will go through the concepts of 4- dimensional light fields before going into the design and applications of 4-D filters as well as implementation in real-time light field processing as well as a review of recent work on FPGAs and the use of light fields in computer vision applications.
